When speaking of ATL, it’s hard to know where to begin. I met the guys when they opened for my first band as high school students in 03/04, at The Ottobar in Baltimore. We had remained distant friends for a number of years until circumstances brought us into a working relationship that evolved over time into a deeply rewarding creative partnership and as well as a priceless friendship.

I met Jake, the co-owner of Anchorhead, over a decade ago when we were on tour with Mayday Parade. He’s become a dear friend over the years, and it’s been a pleasure to watch his brand grow. I even use Anchorhead as the sole roaster for my coffee shop in East Nashville, Elegy. We’ve made a lot of fun stuff over the years, and I can’t wait to see where the brand goes in the next 5-10 years.

It’s been a privilege to watch these guys grow from a brand new baby band out of Memphis to the powerhouse they’re becoming. I had the pleasure of spending a few months on the road w them last year and got to witness their lively show and their dedication to their craft firsthand. The sky is the limit for these guys, I only hope they keep letting me hang around to make art for them.

I love working on merch for Chelsea. She’s one of my favorite young artists who’s blazing a completely unique and inspired trail. She has such a strong sense of self and vision and she makes fantastic music.

It’s been an honor to work on a variety of merchandise items for Coheed, a band I’ve loved for two decades. I saw them play the Middle East in Cambridge, MA on their first headlining tour in support of “Second Stage Turbine Blade,” and then 20 years later found myself designing merch to commemorate the anniversary of the album. Life is cool like that sometimes.

I’ve been lucky enough to work on dozens of concepts for Coldplay over the past couple years in support of their Music of the Spheres World Tour. These are the handful that made the cut. Going to this show in person and seeing my designs on display for a band that’s been such a significant influence in my life for over 20 years was quite a trip. Getting to work for my favorite bands of all time will never get old.

I’ve been lucky enough to fill multiple roles with these guys since they began their career in 2014. As drummer & band leader, I’ve been able to travel the world alongside these boys and witness their tireless work ethic and love for their craft. They’re actually the reason I’m here doing this right now, making art and creating merch designs for other people. Dan tapped me in year 1 to create some merch concepts for them, even though I felt it was outside my comfort zone at the time. It was through his urging that I gained the confidence to try my hand at designing for outside clients, and from there it basically spiraled out of control. Now I find myself juggling my time between playing drums and making art, two things I love dearly, and it’s largely thanks to D+S.

I had the distinct honor of contributing a handful of designs to Elton John’s 50th Anniversary retail collection for “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” The designs below were all approved for sale. I’m still pinching myself over this one, to be honest.

Full disclosure, this project was commissioned but not picked up based on a few companies behind the scenes vying for the band’s business. Nonetheless, merely knowing that I had the chance to make some designs that would have some members of FM and their mgmt’s eyes on them was one of the great honors of my design career. I put a lot of time into making these designs feel like they had the spirit of vintage FM designs, while incorporating a few current trends that would tie them into the modern merch landscape. Hopefully one day I’ll have the chance to do some more for them!

We opened The Fox in September 2017. Hard to believe it’s been nearly 5 years already! I opened the bar with my partner and bff Bryan, who I met through the drumming world as a teenager. My role as co-owner is prominently aesthetic-based. From the bar’s inception, I’ve created our visual identity from the branding and logo package to the menu design. Hell, I even borrowed a sprayer and painted our building myself! The Fox truly is our baby, and was our first foray into the world of hospitality. It’s been rewarding and challenging and everything in between. Next time you find yourself in Nashville, be sure to come see us!

I love Jeremy’s music. His team always approaches me with really creative ideas that I’m excited to tackle. Here are a few things I’ve had approved for him in the last year or two.

Kelsea is one of the most talented writers and performers in modern country music. “Heartfirst” is the perfect distillation of 90s pop country meets current pop country. I couldn’t believe how good it was when I first heard it. It was a pleasure working with her on this line.

Man, what can I say… An absolutely seminal band for me. I still can’t believe I was lucky enough to work on this stuff for the “Imploding the Mirage” tour. I love this band dearly, and the work they’ve been releasing the past few years is some of my favorite. If you haven’t heard “Imploding the Mirage” or “Pressure Machine” yet, do yourself a favor and go listen to both right now.

I met Mayday Parade in 2009 when we toured together for the first time, and we all became fast friends. These guys are some of the hardest working gents in any genre of music. From day one they’ve taken their futures into their own hands and worked their asses off. I’m proud to call them friends, and thrilled to have the opportunity to work on merch drops with them every so often.

Midland, aka the coolest fucking country band in the world, is one of my favorite artists to pitch for. I’ve been doing a bunch of stuff for them the past few years. Everything you see below was approved for sale either for tour, web or retail!

I saw these guys open for every band under the sun in the early 2000s. It’s amazing to see what they’ve done with their career. One of the most unique and influential bands to come out of the scene, without a doubt. I speak for many music fans when I say I’m excited they’re back. The world is a better place with MCR in it.

It is quite literally IMPOSSIBLE to put into words just how important and influential RATM has been to me throughout my life. Working on merchandise designs for them is a dream come true. This band shaped the way I think about the music, politics, culture, expression and the world at large. I’m forever indebted to their impact on me, and just trying to do them justice visually whenever I’m given the chance.

None of these went to print, but it was still a trip to work on and pitch them. I was really happy w the compositions at the time.

This band has been in my life since middle school, and I think they’ve made some of the best rock records of all time during that span of years. It’s always an honor to have my designs printed by them, especially for songs that have meant a lot to me for over 25 years.
